Cats, Dogs and Last Week in the News

We are all reeling from the shocks and losses of last week, especially Bea, who loves Michael Jackson. Taylor votes for Janet Jackson's 'Rhythm Nation', which, if you haven't seen the video, you must watch on YouTube. It is so entertaining to watch such youth and beauty and great ligaments at work. There is such intensity in the work of Michael Jackson and Janet. I'm glad we still have Janet, who will be ok.

People have decried that Farrah Fawcett's death was overshadowed by MJ's and that she did not get her just due. But I think that FF's legacy was delivered before her death. She knew who she was and she put that in a documentary that helps others with cancer. She is a smart woman for having written her own legacy and for having left so much behind.

We are passing our little foster dog Neville along. Four animals in the house is too many, according to Peggy, who loves Neville very much. He is an exemplary companion pet, a "wash and wear dog", as Kathy says. Our house is not set up for so many animals and the impact on the house is too much. Bea will become a cat who gets to play outside a little more. She hangs out at the door leading onto our front deck, hoping that someone will make the mistake of opening it and letting her go at the birds, the squirrels, the bees, the flying saucers and whatever else would be fun.

Bea licked Taylor's ears last week and that's progress. Taylor appeared to like this although said, "That Bea is no Janet Jackson, that's for sure". But Bea got half of a vote there and that's a half more than 6 mos ago.

Jay is a beautiful little dog. He wakes up before Kathy and lies there in the crook of her arm, eyes wide open, just watching. He waits for Kathy's signal that the day has begun and he gets another day with Kathy. We all feel that way.
