Jay's second or third nap of the day is progressing well. He is a flat puppy in a snuggle sack, resting up so that he can be an energetic companion pet to Kathy who is going on a home visit today. They will visit iggy-hopeful people in Poulsbo, so Jay gets to ride on the ferry and make sure that things are going well with the ferry system. We await his report.
It's been a difficult couple of weeks in the Iggy Nation. We lost a normally healthy iggy who died suddenly on the way to the vet. And then a puppy mill rescue was found and she has mouth abcesses and was in a lot of pain when picked up. A vet has worked in her teeth and mouth and eventually her jaw, which was corroded. Vets are the unsung heroes of the world. Anyway, the little gal is feeling better and ready to get on with a life without pregnancy. We will be watching this young dog carefully.
I have designed a program for myself filled with physical therapy because I want to become an agility dog. As everyone knows, I spent some time in agility dog rehab this winter. I liked the outcome but without working at it, I will lose what I gained. I am working on balance and eye tracking today and have been all week. I am so inspired by the book The Brain That Changes Itself. I have heard so many times of people who want to play the piano but can't because they are missing limbs. They solve the problem by learning to play the piano with their toes. I never really understood that but I do now. They may be playing the piano with their toes, but their toes are playing the piano with their brains. Await your invitation to the concert!
Kathy has taken on the backyard project again and we are likely to end up with a pretty decent backyard. Right before the Crash in September, we put a lot of money into fixing the swampy backyard but the fix did not work. So we're going at it again. The group that worked on the backyard will come back and try another solution.
I am working with a great group of people on a temporary job and looking for a permanent position. The people are funny and friendly. The physical space of the project is delightful and big, something you don't find much anymore. The light pours in and the boats go by.
My book needs one more edit, which will happen in May. But for the most part, it's a book and I'm not doing much more with it except looking for a publisher. I started writing it two years ago. I probably wrote it 4 times, looking for the voice and point of view. I started with a location and a person and kept it going from there. It is very difficult to find a publisher if you've never published before, but how can it be anymore difficult than writing a novel when you've never written one before?
