Life with the Beasts

Peggy here. Jay is working as a companion pet, asleep to my left covered with a warm fuzzy jacket that used to be mine. He had lunch with Blaze awhile ago at University Village where this human enjoyed watching people go by. There are some expensive looking haircuts and accessories there, all on their way to buy more expensive accessories, I guess. Lots of people stopped to inquire about Blaze and Jay, wondering if they are whippets, especially Blaze, who is a tall iggy. Both boys let children pet them once they felt the people were to be trusted.

Taylor is happy right now because she is allowed out on the front deck and can feel the wind blowing through her hair. She jumped up on me a minute ago to let me know how much fun that is, but figured out that Jay is with me, and jumped down, heading for the front deck, where the dog isn't. Bea must be out, too, and this is her first time outside. She has been chomping at the bit to go out and let them know she's here and ready to play.

I have gone one interviews at a place that asked me to apply for a particular job. I am very excited and keeping my fingers crossed that things continue to go well and that they offer me a job. It's a place that pulls at my heart strings...I love the work they are doing. And it is a compliment to be asked to apply. I am now looking for books on management and will spend the weekend reading them.

As far as Sarah Palin is concerned, all I can say is that I am tired of hearing her and tired of hearing about her. She is an excellent representation of how we'd all look better if we had a million dollars to spend on a couple of outfits and some professionally applied makeup that would give us that chiseled look. I do not doubt that she has been maligned. I do not doubt that she is under unfair scrutiny. However, I want the world to be a better place and don't think that she can do a thing about that.

That's it from here.

Taylor's Opinions

Taylor has commented several times on the News which is filled with losses, revolution, and transferring affection if one must. Taylor likes the MJ song "Human Nature" and has rewritten the words to make fun of us. She misses Farrah Fawcett who she thought of as one brave kitty. And she thinks it is a hoot that the governor's wife won't play the old game and instead is getting the kids ready for school and going about the life she chose.

I (Peggy) did not get the job that I thought I might have wanted. There were better candidates than me, applicants who certainly had backgrounds in the acronymically-designated processes and procedures that I did not have, applicants who would fit better in the window-free environment. Although I did not get the job, I interviewed with some truly lovely people and had a good experience all the way around. I have been called back for a second interview on another position that I am interested in. The office area has a window and lots of sunny space and it had a good feel to it. The potential new boss is looking for an editor/writer in part. This is an assistant position, something that I have not done for a long long time. So stay tuned.

Bea is happy about her little salmon treat that she gets on a special little plate every night. She seems calmer. Taylor gets a treat occasionally, too, but for the most part Bea gets to Taylor's treat first. And Taylor lives on a different plane than the rest of us, one where treats are not the most important thing. Taylor and Bea fight a lot but there are also seconds of affection.

JayJ's Big Day

JayJ relaxing on the deck on the 4th of July

Today is JayJ's SECOND birthday! It's hard to believe this little guy is already 2 years old. Jay and Neville, his brother who recently went to live with Sasha and her pack, will undoubtedly get to celebrate at tomorrow's IG meet-up at the dog park. JayJ got a mini Skinneeez toy and he REALLY likes it. He's been chewing on the squeaker and tossing it in the air all morning. Now he's taking a nap so he can get up and do it again in a few minutes.

Happy Birthday, JayJ-boo ---- and happy birthday to Nevie, too!

Basset Correction

After chatting with Rosemary, I find my blurb posted the other day needs to be corrected. Mama Hilary is named after Hilary Swank, the actress, not Hillary Clinton. I was confused because Hilary's brother was named Bill. Bill is NOT name after Bill Clinton, but rather William West, or Bill West, Peggy's dad. Now you have the correct info.

The times, they are a changin'

I love to hate change sometimes. Although I really like change, sometimes it's a drag. I miss little Neville. Peggy and I disagree on whether or not we can have 2 dogs. So far it's 0-2, in Peggy's favor. Ugh.

Today we went to see Rosemary's Babies. Our friend Rosemary has basset hounds. She loves them; trains, shows and breeds them. Bassets are her thing. So, 9 weeks ago, Hillary (named for Mrs. Clinton) gave birth to 7 bouncing baby bassets--2 girls and 5 boys. Rosemary only lives about half an hour away, but for some reason, today was the first time we've made it to her place to meet the pups.

JayJ has been looking at photos and sniffing my clothes since he wasn't "allowed" yet to meet the new members of the extended family. He is just getting used to the idea that some of his 9 week old cousins outweigh him by 8 lbs--almost twice his weight. I think he like the puppies. I believe this this because he didn't lift his leg and pee on me after he smelled puppy smells all over my clothes. Well, to be honest, he's never peed on me, but you never know about these things. He, too, is having difficulty with change. He is bereft without his little brother Nevie.

After a morning at the dog park with Blaze and his humans (Marcy & Jan), Peggy and I spent the afternoon with Rosemary and the pups: Jack, Lazerus, Houdini, Regina, Esther, Reginald, and Sheldon. After 2 hours of puppy antics, they crashed. It was as if someone flipped the switch to OFF. Here are some pics of the pups. I'm afraid Rosemary will have to weigh in with their names because I can barely tell them apart in person let alone in photos. Some of them have tons of freckles on their bellies, paws, and faces. Rosemary says this is called ticking. I like ticking.
